March of Dimes - Walk for Babies
WSCC participates in the March of Dimes Walk for Babies each year. We help set up, we walk, cheer and encourage. We also supported MOD through fundraising and donations.
MLK Day of Service
This year our Children partnered with Blessings in a Backpack to support families at an elementary school with food for the weekend. We planned to pack 200 "backpacks" but due to overwhelming response from our chapter we packed over 500 meals. Our children managed this project from start to finish and truly felt they were furthering Dr. Martin Luther King's call to combat poverty through ending hunger.
Our Teens Serve
WSCC Families led by Teen Treasurer Devin Minor donate blankets to Elmhurst Hospital. President Latriece Danley, Program Director Richelle Minor, Foundation Chair Tiffany McQueen-Lewis, Corresponding Secretary Dr. Kim Darey and Teen Treasurer Devin Minor joined the NICU staff to donate blankets lovingly created by WSCC families. Together we can do more. Photos by LeVern Danley
The Trailblazer Group - Grades 9 through 12 plan a Christmas Party and donate gifts for the children at the Marie Wilkinson Child Development Center annually. They provide and serve the Dinner for the children and their families, do crafts as well as donate and distribute gifts. Santa and his elves also makes an appearance much to the delight of the kids.
